The twists!!! Never saw any of them coming。
Diana Garcia,
Adam Wright is a screenwriter married to Amelia who works with a dog rescue。 Adam has a condition called prosopagnosia, which means he is unable to recognize or distinguish between faces。 Even those he may have known for years, including his wife。 He relies on instinct and a gut feeling of what the inside of a person looks like and has Amelia by his side to help him in social situations。 Amelia has talked Adam into a weekend away at a remote location in Scotland that she won in a church raffle。 Adam Wright is a screenwriter married to Amelia who works with a dog rescue。 Adam has a condition called prosopagnosia, which means he is unable to recognize or distinguish between faces。 Even those he may have known for years, including his wife。 He relies on instinct and a gut feeling of what the inside of a person looks like and has Amelia by his side to help him in social situations。 Amelia has talked Adam into a weekend away at a remote location in Scotland that she won in a church raffle。 She believes it’s a last chance to try to save their failing marriage。 Every anniversary the couple has exchanged traditional wedding gifts, paper, cotton, leather etc and Adams’ wife writes him a letter in which she chronicles that year of their marriage but never shared with him。 They arrive at the rundown chapel and there are signs that they were expected though no one is there to greet them。 The only person for miles around is in a small cottage up the long driveway who has been waiting for the couple and knows that they weren’t randomly chosen for this trip and there is no happy ending。 The author has written another page turner- creepy, unreliable narrators, plot twists, and an ending that you won’t see coming。 The only downside is it will be a year until this brilliant authors next book。 。。。more

Alice Feeney has always been a kind of hit or miss author for me。 I have loved some of their work and others fell flat。 This one was the best one I have read yet! They get better and better as she writes more。From the creepy atmosphere to the multiple POVs, this book had it all。 And the twists! I did not see those coming。 The ending gave me all sorts of chills。I can’t wait to read what Alice Feeney puts out in the future! It will definitely be an auto-buy!
Cait Lin,
Normally I can figure out a plot twist pretty early on… but this book surprised me。 Very well written, and entertaining the whole way through

Holy Cow! I could not put this one down。 This book had everything I look for in a 5 star thriller; unreliable narrators, domestic tension, and so many twists it leaves you dizzy。 I have to say I did NOT see the surprise twists at the end。 There is as actually a chapter I read twice because I was like I could not have read what I THINK I just read。。 spoiler alert; I had。 I also enjoyed the multiple narrators and dual way the dual timelines were done with the yearly anniversary letters to Adam。 Al Holy Cow! Kera’s Always Reading,
This is a twisting and perfectly paced thriller about a married couple who go on a trip to Scotland that may very well be their last。Adam and Amelia have been married for 10 years and while he suffers from face blindness, meaning he cannot recognize faces, they have made it work。 He still knows her better than anyone by other characteristics。 And for so long things were wonderful。 We get to see their past through letters that she writes every year for their anniversary that she never gives him。 This is a twisting and perfectly paced thriller about a married couple who go on a trip to Scotland that may very well be their last。Adam and Amelia have been married for 10 years and while he suffers from face blindness, meaning he cannot recognize faces, they have made it work。 He still knows her better than anyone by other characteristics。 And for so long things were wonderful。 We get to see their past through letters that she writes every year for their anniversary that she never gives him。 And at times things were great, but now it’s very clear that one of them may not be coming back from this trip to Scotland they won。Because it isn’t just Adam and Amelia in this story。 There is another who means them harm and may or may not have cooked up parts of this romantic getaway for their own dastardly plans。 But you will keep guessing until the very end。 Adam is a screenwriter and all he has wanted was to work with this one horror/thriller author and adapt his books to film。 When he finally gets the opportunity, he becomes tunnel visioned on this one aspect of his life and things begin to get rocky in his marriage。 But absolutely NOTHING is what it seems in this dark and atmospheric thriller。 And it was such a fantastic experience。 。。。more

Book #10 in my Book of the Month。 This book got me from the 1st page。 Secretes and lies and mystery。 Loved the way the author pieced everything and everyone together and the truth is revealed more then half way through the story。 My favorite book so far!

This is my first Alice Feeney, but let me tell you it definitely won't be my last。 I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written, suspenseful and creepy thriller with interesting characters, a compelling and well-crafted mystery, and a spooky isolated setting。 I have discovered that I am not the biggest fan of domestic thrillers because they are full of drama that I don't really care about, and while this had some elements of that, for most of the story I was quite invested in what was going to happen This is my first Alice Feeney, but let me tell you it definitely won't be my last。 I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written, suspenseful and creepy thriller with interesting characters, a compelling and well-crafted mystery, and a spooky isolated setting。 I have discovered that I am not the biggest fan of domestic thrillers because they are full of drama that I don't really care about, and while this had some elements of that, for most of the story I was quite invested in what was going to happen to Amelia and Adam。 I really enjoyed the writing style, it had some great lines and many creative elements (like the word of the year stuff)。 I also liked the twists at the end, I did not see any of them coming and I thought all of them were compelling and clever。 I think I could not appreciate the first twist as much as I otherwise would've because I'd just finished another book with a similar twist, but I still really enjoyed it, especially together with the rest of the twists。 A suspenseful, spooky and compelling read that convinced me to pick up the next book this author writes。 TW: murder, manipulation, death by car accident, entrapment 。。。more

This book has been glued to my hand for the past 24 hours。 The story was addictive and the atmosphere was really creepy (without being over the top mentioning how much it was snowing。) I took a star off because while I liked the first twist, the second one was disappointing (twisting the twist doesn't always work)。。。and the closing chapter wasn't necessary。 But overall I really liked this one and will be reading more by this author! There have been quite a few thrillers that I've read in one sitting but none have captured me the way this one did。 Gosh what did I even read? My mind is blown。 These plot twists were just insane。 I reached a part towards the end where I put the book down and just sat there thinking the details through。 My heart was racing, my mind was jumping to sooo many points, and there were times where I was like "omg I didn't realise that until now。"。 This was so worth the time!
